Wheelchair-accessible SUVs are vehicles modified to feature ramps, lifts, and spacious interiors to accommodate wheelchairs, combining accessibility with the versatile performance of an SUV. These conversions are tailored to maintain the vehicle’s aesthetics and functionality while ensuring ease of use and safety for individuals with mobility challenges. Wheelchair-accessible SUVs represent a fusion of luxury, comfort, and accessibility, offering a more inclusive choice for those seeking adaptive driving solutions without compromising style or performance.
Introducing the state-of-the-art minivan alternative… BraunAbility’s Chevrolet Traverse Wheelchair-Accessible SUV!
The newest accessible vehicle is taking the industry by storm and giving wheelchair users a choice over the traditional minivan.
BraunAbility, the largest wheelchair conversion manufacturer globally, has changed the industry with the Chevy Traverse Handicap SUV! Unlike earlier attempts, the Chevrolet Traverse Wheelchair-Accessible SUV has hit the market with nearly as much room and maneuverability as the Toyota Sienna wheelchair van!
A true game-changer, the Chevy Traverse handicap SUV is 46% larger inside than Braun’s earlier wheelchair-accessible SUV, the Ford Explorer.
In fact, not only will the new Chevrolet Traverse accessible SUV comfortably accommodate up to seven passengers, but four of them can be wheelchair users! It is a work of art and quite the head-turner in the style department!
The Chevy Traverse Handicap SUV is currently available with a power, in-floor wheelchair ramp system.
This system allows the ramp to be housed under the vehicle’s floor, which creates more room inside the cabin and a fully accessible entry way for ambulatory passengers.
The in-floor ramp system has a load capacity of up to 1000 pounds and a useable width of 30.25 inches to accommodate today’s larger wheelchairs.
Even the door opening height is more significant, 54.5 inches, to accommodate taller, seated wheelchair passengers.
The ramp is mounted under the floor inside the new sliding passenger door. It is deployed and stowed using buttons throughout the interior cabin or the factory key fob.
In case of a power failure, the Traverse wheelchair SUV is equipped with backup power and a manual ramp operating system in case of redundant system failures.
