Established in 1976 by Dan Cook Sr. in Louisville, KY, Superior Van & Mobility began as a luxury full-size conversion van builder. In the 1990s, under the leadership of Sam and Kathy Cook, the company shifted its focus to mobility solutions, recognizing a growing need for wheelchair-accessible vehicles. This forward-thinking approach led to the introduction of mobility vans into their product line.

By 2004, the company had entirely dedicated its operations to mobility and rebranded as Superior Van & Mobility. Today, it is the largest family-owned mobility dealer in the U.S., proudly serving communities across the South and Midwest. Now in its third generation of leadership with Alex Cook, Superior continues its legacy of innovation, customer care, and helping individuals regain their independence through reliable mobility solutions.

Superior Handicap Vans operates under its parent company, Superior Van & Mobility, and is a proud member of the National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association (NMEDA). NMEDA sets national standards for mobility dealers and adaptive equipment manufacturers, ensuring safe and ethical practices that protect consumers.

As a participant in NMEDA’s Quality Assurance Program (QAP), Superior adheres to the industry’s highest level of service, technician training, and installation standards. This certification gives customers peace of mind knowing their wheelchair-accessible vehicle meets strict safety and performance guidelines. When shopping for mobility equipment, look for the QAP logo—it’s a trusted symbol of quality and reliability.
